Department of Educational Technology and Communications

Faculty of Education, Mahasarakham University

The Department of Educational Technology and Communications, Faculty of Education, Mahasarakham University, provides teaching and research in educational technology, media and learning innovation across all levels — from bachelor's and master's to doctoral degrees.

History

The department was formerly the Department of Educational Technology, originating from the Audio-Visual Education Section that taught audio-visual education as a required subject at "Maha Sarakham College of Education" from 1968 (B.E. 2511).

In 1975 (B.E. 2518), after the college was elevated to Srinakharinwirot University, Maha Sarakham Campus, the "Department of Educational Technology" was established and expanded educational opportunity to meet the demand for educational technology personnel, producing graduates under the "Educational Technology" bachelor's programme from 1982 (B.E. 2525).

It later opened graduate study — the Master of Education in Educational Technology from 1987 (B.E. 2530) — and first opened the Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Technology and Communications in 2005 (B.E. 2548), renaming the department to the Department of Educational Technology and Communications.

Across more than four decades, the department has nurtured over 2,000 graduates into the workforce, through the dedication of its four founding professors:
